Sales and Lead Capture Website Updates
I’ve implemented a number of changes on this website over the past few days, all of which are (ultimately) sales and lead capture oriented. All of these improvements were inexpensive and fairly easy to make.
New, easy to read theme. I switched to a black and white them for my WordPress website. A lot of my clients are “my age”, meaning that they’ll appreciate the easy to read font. There’s a font size button in the top-right-hand corner, too. I always look for that kind of thing when I’m on websites myself.
Registration is now required before one can download the free databases I have up on this website. When a person registers, they automatically subscribe to my newsletter. (That’s clearly stated on the registration page, and people can unsubscribe at any time.) Result: eight subscriptions in three days. Before I made this change I was only getting a few new subscriptions a year.
Heat Map based design. Heat maps (in regards to website design) are based on eye tracking studies. What I’ve did, basically, was to layout this website such that the places people most commonly look will either have the information they’re looking for, or a call to action. For example, the red “Immediate Assistance Available” text up to the right probably caught your eye when you first hit this website.
I created an Access Programming Forum. These kinds of things tend to do pretty well in the search engines. Nobody has posted to the forum yet. Over time, though, I believe this will prove to be a useful additional to this website.
I create and posted a detailed lead capture form. This provides an easy, direct means for visitors to request a proposal online. People can either fill out the top of the form with their contact info and click Submit, or provide significant detail regarding their specific needs.
And finally there is the pop-up form in the upper-left-hand corner of the page. Did it catch your eye? I know people hate pop-up forms. I certainly do. I did my best, though, to make the pop-up unobtrusive. I’m going to bite my lip for a few weeks and see whether many people actually click on form. (Clicking on that link takes one to the new lead capture form.)
That’s it, for now anyways. I’m have quite a bit of new content to post to this website and will be getting to that within the next week or so. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section for this blog post.
